Jeremy Weirich recently joined AURA in May 2018 as their Vice President for Corporate Strategy. Previously, Mr. Weirich served on the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Appropriations as the Staff Director (Majority Clerk) for the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee under the leadership of Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) and Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS). Mr. Weirich had been with the subcommittee since 2008, previously working as the subcommittee Staff Director for Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) and Professional Staff Member for Senator Daniel K. Inouye (D-HI) and Richard C. Byrd (D-WV). He directly managed many accounts for the committee including the FBI, NASA, NOAA, NIST, NSF, as well as various justice, trade, and economic agencies. Before joining the U.S. Senate, Mr. Weirich served in the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps, honorably discharged at the rank of lieutenant commander. He split his nine-year commission between serving as a deck officer aboard ocean-going research and hydrographic vessels, coordinating surface and underwater expeditions for ocean exploration, and working in policy positions for federal research programs. Mr. Weirich graduated with a BS from Maine Maritime Academy, and received a MS from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom.
